Bone is an important organ not only as it provides the framework for the body, but it also protects internal organs and produces red and white blood cells. Although the structure and composition of bone is well-known, the details about the mechanisms and responses of bone cells in response to surrounding stimuli are not yet completely revealed. Bone regeneration is a well-orchestrated but complex physiological process regulated by different cell types. Recent directions have increasingly explored the interplay between skeletal and different systems which better model the physiological responses. Furthermore, reconstruction of large bone defects resulting from tumors, injuries and traumas has long been a challenge in orthopaedics. Bone tissue engineering becomes a promising approach to replace injured bone with significant advances in the field. The combined efforts of all these areas ultimately lead to significant research advances in our knowledge in building better bone. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Current and emerging basic science concepts in bone biology
  • Mesenchymal stem cells: mechanisms and role in bone regeneration
  • Crosstalk between bone cells and other cell types
  • Biomaterials and scaffolds for bone tissue engineering
  • Advanced tissue engineering approaches in bone
  • Mechanotransduction in bone repair and regeneration

Paper Submission

Detailed instructions for manuscript preparation can be found on the conference website through this link. Note that all manuscripts should be written in English and submitted electronically in PDF format through the paper submission system. Submitted work must not contain contents that have been published or are under consideration for publication by any other journal or conference.

Accepted Papers

Each accepted paper should be presented by one of the authors at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper should be registered and pay the full registration fee to ensure the publication of their paper in the BIBE 2016 conference proceedings and IEEE Digital Library.
